VIRTUAL PRODUCTION
Virtual Production makes use of a combination of immersive technologies. Virtual reality, augmented reality as well as CGI and game-engine technologies. These allow filmmakers to see their scenes unfold as they are composed and captured on set.
The boundaries that clearly defined how we work have radically shifted. You have total control of the sun, or alter any aspect of a location to suit your composition. While it may seem like anything is possible there are always limits, rediscovering what those are within this technology has been an exciting education.
VP stages are huge light sources which our cameras are shooting directly into. There are many new considerations that can dramatically affect a scene and its look. It requires a new discipline. I’m fortunate to have gained very valuable experience, in such a new sector. Learning to develop an understanding of what traditional approaches still work and which must be adapted to suit this technology.
